An adjective is a word that modifies a noun or a pronoun
An adjective answers one of these questions:

Descriptive Adjectives
Answers the question what kind? Usually precede nouns or follow linking verbs.
Possessive Adjectives
Answers the question whose? Possessive pronouns (my his, her, your, its, our, or a name!)
Proper Adjectives
Answer the questions which? Words derived from proper nouns.

Indicates how many? Can be numbers or words.
Demonstrative Adjectives
Answers the question which one? or which ones? This, that, these, those.
